Common questions

How much does it cost?

Want 2 Watch is a free download with one purchase in the iPhone app: $0.99, or the equivalent in your currency. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks the app for you and includes a pass for one friend.

How does the friend's pass work?

Once you've unlocked the app, it gives you a link to share. The first friend to sign up through that link gets Want 2 Watch free, and you two are connected automatically. If they already have an account, they can paste the link under Have a friend's pass? on the unlock screen instead. Each purchase includes one pass.

I bought it, but the app is still locked

On the unlock screen, tap Restore purchase while signed in to the same App Store account you bought it with. An unlock belongs to the Want 2 Watch account that bought it, so make sure you're signed in to that one too. If it still won't unlock, get in touch and tell us your username.

Can I use it on the web?

Yes. Your unlock belongs to your account, so signing in at app.want2.watch works too. Buying happens in the iPhone app, but a friend's pass can be used in the browser.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles the payment, so refunds go through Apple too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

The deck is empty, or says to pick streaming services

Want 2 Watch only suggests titles included with subscriptions you actually have. Open Profile, choose your streaming services, and the deck fills. If you have picked services and it is still empty, you may simply have rated everything available on them — try Browse to widen the deck, or add another service.

I keep seeing titles I have already rated

You should not. Every title you have judged is excluded from the deck. If a title you rated comes back, please report it with the title name — that is a bug worth knowing about.

How do I add a friend?

Go to the Friends tab and search for their username, or send them an invite by message or email. An invite link carries your username, so whoever opens it is connected to you automatically once they sign up.

How do I block or report someone?

Tap ··· next to them in search results or friend requests, or open a friend and tap Report or block. A block hides you from each other and ends any friendship, without telling them; unblock from the bottom of the Friends tab. Every report is reviewed within 24 hours, and the person reported is never told who reported them. You can also write to us below.

What can other people see?

Anyone signed in can find you by username or display name and see your profile picture. Friends also see the titles you have both said yes to. Your full watchlist stays private unless you deliberately turn on watchlist sharing, which is off by default. Titles you marked "not interested" are never shown to anyone.

Why is a film missing, or the wrong streaming service listed?

All catalogue and availability data comes from The Movie Database (TMDB). Availability changes often and occasionally lags reality. If something looks wrong, it is usually upstream — but tell us anyway and we will look.

How do I change my password or email?

Change your email in Profile. To change your password, sign out and use "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in screen to get a reset link.

How do I delete my account?

Profile, then Delete my account. This removes your account, your ratings, your profile picture, and your friend connections permanently. It is not a deactivation and it cannot be undone.
